Earth Drawings and Water Colors
September 2002
Julia Ricketts and Margeret Boozer are
engaged in a yearlong collaborative project which began with
a visit to Whidbey Island's Double Bluff Beach, rumored to
be covered with chunks of clay. Using material from the site
including the clay, beach stones, and water, and source
material such as maps and satellite photos, the two artists
are exploring the many facets of a place and the
transformative possibilities of art making. The first group
of work from this project includes drawings, ceramic tiles,
and mixed media pieces, some created together and others
independently. The results are a fresh and exciting
beginning for two accomplished artists.
